OneTapReminder — Privacy Policy
OneTapReminder ("the app") is a voice-first reminder app. It is designed to run on your device. We do not operate servers that collect your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use any analytics or tracking SDKs. This policy explains what the app stores, where it stays, and the only cases where data leaves your device.

What the app stores on your device
- Audio recordings you make with the microphone.
- Transcripts and reminder text generated from, or typed for, those recordings.
- Reminder times, titles, and app settings.
- Your OpenAI API key, if you choose to enter one, kept in the device's encrypted secure storage.
All of the above is held in the app's local storage on your device. We have no access to it.
On-device transcription (default)
By default, speech is transcribed entirely on your device using a downloadable Whisper model. The audio never leaves the phone for transcription. Downloading the model the first time requires an internet connection to fetch the model file from a public model host (Hugging Face and its delivery providers). Those providers receive normal connection information such as your IP address; your recordings are not sent with model downloads.
Hugging Face and its delivery providers can retain download-request information, including an IP address or its hash, approximate country or region, request times and counts, HTTP status, and device/network information from the request. They use this information to deliver and secure their services and analyze downloads. This does not give the app access to your GPS location. Optional features that send data off the device
These are off unless you turn them on:
- OpenAI transcription (optional). If you enter your own OpenAI API key and select the API engine, the audio you record is sent to OpenAI to be transcribed, under your own OpenAI account and OpenAI's privacy policy and API data terms. On iPhone, you must explicitly allow audio sharing before it starts; you can revoke it in Settings. Restoring a backup does not grant that permission. If you never select and allow this mode, no audio is sent to OpenAI.
- Calendar Integration (optional). If you enable calendar integration, reminders are saved as events on a calendar account you select through your device's calendar. Those events sync through your own Google (or other) account under that provider's privacy policy. If integration is off, reminders are delivered as local notifications and stay on the device. On iPhone, app notifications also deliver your reminders when Calendar Integration is enabled.
When you use OpenAI transcription, OpenAI can retain account-linked operational and billing metadata, including the API key or account identifier, request counts, model, and audio duration. Its documented transcription endpoint does not normally retain audio as application state or in abuse-monitoring logs. Your OpenAI account's data settings, applicable terms, and any retention exceptions still apply. See OpenAI's API data controls. We do not receive these provider records.
Permissions and why they are used
- Microphone — to record the audio you turn into reminders.
- Calendar — when you enable Calendar Integration, to choose a calendar and create, update, or delete reminder events.
- Notifications — to alert you at reminder times.
- Foreground service (Android) — to finish transcribing and saving a reminder if you leave the app mid-task. iPhone does not use this Android permission.
Backups
You can export a backup file (settings, history, audio, and your optional OpenAI API key) using your device's share sheet. Where that file goes is entirely your choice; the app does not upload it automatically. The exported file is not encrypted by the app; keep it private because it can contain your recordings and API key. Your chosen file or cloud provider controls its storage.
Home Screen widget
The iPhone app and its calendar widget share a local calendar snapshot through an App Group on your device. It includes dates, recording and reminder counts, and reminder titles for display. The widget does not upload this information to the developer or a server.
Data sharing and selling
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. Optional recording and reminder-content transfers go directly to OpenAI or your calendar provider. Model downloads contact the model host as described above.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete individual recordings and reminders in the app. Uninstalling removes the app's local history, recordings, models, and settings. On iPhone, an API key stored in the keychain may survive uninstalling: clear the API key field in Settings and save it before removing the app, or revoke the key in your OpenAI account. Calendar events and exported backups can remain with their chosen provider until you delete them there.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
